15 [a]Whosoever hateth his brother, is a manslayer: and ye know that no manslayer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16 (A)[b]Hereby have we perceived love, that he laid down his life for us: therefore we ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 (B)[c]And whosoever hath this [d]world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and [e]shutteth up his compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
